Born in a reputed farming family in district –Etah, (Uttar Pradesh), he was an extremely sincere, hardworking, and intelligent boy in his childhood. He traveled a large distance of 09 kms every day to reach the Christian missionary school, as no other school was available nearby. But his devotion to knowledge was such, that he covered this distance every day and for 12 continuous years, on foot as bicycles were not very common in those days.

Throughout the first division, he completed his post-graduation (M.Sc.) from the famous RBS college of Agra and joined Allahabad University for his Doctorate degree. He completed his Ph.D. in the subject of “Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry” under the guidance of eminent scientist, late Dr. N.R. Dhar. He had opted for this subject because, he had saw the agony of the poor farmers having acres and acres of unfertile Usar lands with no productivity, he always dreamt of finding some solution to convert the unproductive usar land into a fertile one. He succeeded to do so when he invented the famous “Molasses Treatment Technique for Usar Land Reclamation”. During his 35 years of research in the field of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, he gave several formulae to improve the productivity of the soils, especially the problematic ones, to bring some change in the lives of the great farming community. As a senior professor he guided 54 students to complete their M.Sc. and 21 students for their Ph.D., from India and abroad. During his vast career he wrote and published 109 research papers, 12 popular articles, 7 books and 04 bulletins in national as well as international journals. Though coming from a rural farming family of a far remote district of Utter Pradesh, he worked on very high positions like HoD, Director of Research, Associate Director of Extension, Senior/Principal Scientist and pro Vice Chancellor, in many Academic Institutions and Universities. On the invitations of their respective governments, he visited number of countries e.g., the USSR, Philippines, West Germany, Bangladesh, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Nepal as a guide and visiting Scientist.

A very human being, he was known for his sincerity, hard work, disciplined life, and wisdom. Throughout his life, he worked for farming communities, poor and less privileged people from all walks of life.
